SHUTTLE RACK

The shuttle racks consists out of self-supporting rack frames connected in length direction with backstop beams on the outside and the shuttle rails on the inside of the aisle. The ledgers are arranged between the shuttle rails and the backstop beams. A vertical cross bracing is stabilizing the rack in length direction.

The shuttle rail profiles have two main functions. They are supporting the ledgers on which the load carriers are stored and they function as the rails for the shuttles. The shuttles are transporting the load carriers inside the rack. Usually there are load carrier and shuttle lifts fully integrated into the steelwork structure of the rack.

Every 2,1 – 2,7 height meters there is a maintenance platform over the whole rack length so that maintenance personnel can reach the shuttles and load carriers in every storage level.
